More speed ramps wanted for big Portlaoise housing estate

More speed ramps are needed in one of the biggest housing estates in Laois, says a local councillor.
Cars in Kilminchy housing estate in Portlaoise are “ramping up speed” and therefore more speed ramps are needed says Cllr Thomasina Connell.
She tabled a motion to the December meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.
“There aren't that many ramps. Cars are really ramping up speed. There are a lot of children in the area, a lot of families. As Cllr Noel Touhy has said if Kilminchy was a town it would be one of the biggest in Laois,” she said.
"I hope we can get something done potentially before the end of the year," Cllr Connell added.
The council will visit the estate to see if traffic calming ramps are required.
