New speed signs to tackle 'absolutely crazy' speeds on Laois Road

New speed signs are being erected in a bid to slow traffic on a stretch of the N80.
Temporary traffic measures will be in place during the speed sign installation on the N80 at Ballickmoyler today.
Laois County Council said the temporary traffic arrangements will be in place from 8am until 6pm today.
The stretch of road at Ballickmoyler has been the focus of much debate at council level. Earlier this year Fianna Fail Cllr Padraig Fleming described speeding in the village as "absolutely crazy" and said there were fears someone could be killed.
The area has been targeted by gardai in operations aimed to improve road safety.
Gardai undertook the operations in response to local concerns about speeding on the N80 in Ballickmoyler.
