Laois councillors complain about poor water pressure

Taking a shower upstairs is impossible in some houses in Portlaoise, due to poor water pressure.

So claims Cllr Catherine Fitzgerald, Fianna Fáil, who has tabled a motion to Laois County Council asking it to fix the problem for residents of Clonad.

"Two storey houses can't use a shower, because the water pressure is so low going up to the first floor," she said.

Cllr Willie Aird, Fine Gael, seconded her motion.

"I was told that it needs a pump installed. The water is going up a rising hill. It's not that there is a scarcity of water," he said.

In reply to the motion, tabled to the May meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District, the council engineer Adrian Barrett said they will contact Uisce Eireann and seek a response.
