A Laois councillor is asking for toilets to be installed in cemeteries owned by Laois County Council.

Cllr Ben Brennan says there is "nowhere to go".

"You're not allowing us to put toilets in graveyards. There is nowhere to go to the toilet. We're in 2023. It's crazy," he said.

He spoke after Laois County Council revealed its Indicative Capital Programme of spending for the coming three years, at their December meeting.

Out of the €315,487,065 they plan to spend on building in Laois, there is €1,030 expected to be spent on burial grounds.

The council maintains 27 cemeteries in the county.
