Overgrown trees at Laois war memorial park

'They're trying to raise the flag but there are branches in the way'
Trees are getting in the way of raising flags at the Laois memorial garden in Portlaoise.
Laois County Council Cathaoirleach, Cllr Barry Walsh has asked the council to do a trimming job on them.
He tabled a motion to the November meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District with his request.
"This came up as an issue when I was at the United Nations veteran's events recently. They're trying to raise the flag but the branches are in the way. In general the trees need a trimming," he said.

He was happy with the reply from the Portlaoise MD office which said that any trees posing an issue with the flagpole will be addressed.
