Sarah joined Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council Pádraig Fleming, County Librarian Bernie Foran and Laois Library staff on a visit to Ms. Fitzpatrick’s 3rd Class pupils in Scoil Bhríde, Portlaoise where she gave an inspiring talk all about the joy of reading. She encouraged everyone to dive into books and take part in the challenge this summer. Summer Stars is a free national reading programme for children that runs in all public libraries over the summer months, until 30th August. It’s designed to help children keep up their reading skills during the holidays while discovering the fun and freedom of choosing their own books. Reading over the summer helps build confidence, sparks imagination, and keeps young minds active and curious, and Summer Stars makes it all exciting and rewarding! Pop into your local library to sign up and get started. There are fun events, reading logs, and even prizes to be won!
