This new book is part of a series looking at this revolutionary period of Irish history in each county. The series editors are Mary Ann Lyons and Daithi Ó Corrán. This new publication follows shortly after the Decade of Centenaries in Ireland, which sought to appropriately commemorate and reflect on this significant period in Irish history.

For anyone interested in how Laois was shaped by those events and the role played by the people involved, this book should provide answers to a lot of questions. The event was hosted by Laois Heritage Officer Thomas Carolan. Special guest speakers

included Charlie Flanagan (former government minister) and Sean Fleming TD. Photographer Alf Harvey was there to capture the event.
