A night celebrating the best of Laois culture and cuisine was held at the Lovely Laois Homecoming Festival Gala Dinner in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise on Saturday, September 5.
The night, organised by Laois Country Music star and Mountrath native Trudi Lalor, was all about reconnecting with old friends and making new memories.
The night featured four Laois-based Unsung Heroes whilst also honouring someone who has flown the flag high for Laois on a national level over several decades.
This year’s celebrity guest was Eileen Dunne, former RTÉ newscaster and journalist, whose late father was the legendary Mick Dunne from Clonaslee and who was a highly respected Sports Commentator for RTÉ. Noel Burke, Tom Duffy, Abbeyleix House and Farm Animal Sanctuary and The ARC (addiction recovery) Project were this year’s Unsung Heroes.
