Plans lodged for changes at Portlaoise housing development

The site is formerly known as Summerhill
Plans have been lodged to Laois County Council to facilitate several changes at the Sand Wood Housing Development, formerly Summerhill, in Laois.
Plans were submitted on Tuesday, January 8, for minor revisions to the Neighbourhood Centre building, including internal layout changes, elevational changes and amendments to the roof profile.
The development would result in a reduction in the principal height of the Neighbourhood Centre building from 14.85 metres to 13.36 metres and a reduction in floor area from 1,484 sq m to 1,426 sq m.
The development also proposes minor car parking layout changes; landscaping; and all other associated site works above and below ground.
“A total of 67 No. residential units were also included in the permitted development. This Amendment Application relates to minor alterations to the Neighbourhood Centre building only and no changes are proposed to the wider residential development,” the application stated.
The site at Summerhill, Portlaoise, Co. Laois (now known as Sand Wood) is generally bound to the north by Aghnaharna Drive, to the east by Holy Family School Road, to the south by undeveloped lands, and, to the west by the new residential development currently under construction.
A decision is expected in late March, 2025.
