Plans lodged for new housing scheme in Laois

New residential project proposed in Durrow
Plans have been lodged with Laois County Council for a new housing scheme in Durrow. An application has been submitted by William Ward for permission to build ten new homes at Mill Road.
The proposed housing scheme includes one four-bed detached two-storey property, one four-bed detached two-storey, two three-bed semi-detached bungalows, two three-bed semi-detached two-storey properties, two three-bed semi-detached two-storey houses and two three-bed semi-detached two-storey houses. The application also seeks permission for "site entrance and all associated site development works including new access road, shared surfaces, footpaths, parking, boundary treatments, drainage, and landscape/amenity."
"The development consists of 10 houses designed as a mix of semi-detached and detached units, ranging from three to four bedrooms. This provides variety for different family sizes and demographics, including first-time buyers, families, and downsizers. The homes will feature a contemporary style with subtle references to the local vernacular architecture, including pitched roofs, modest building heights, and materials like stone, brick, and timber," said the planning documents.
"The 10% Social / Affordable requirement of Part V will also be met and delivered. The variety of dwelling type across a scheme of this size gives future residents the opportunity to stay within an area and enjoy the benefits of a community
that will establish itself over time."
The application states that it will include twelve parking spaces for the development.
