Playground repairs at Laois Leisure playground in Portlaoise
Laois County Council says work is in the pipeline
The slide, and swings are to undergo repairs at the playground at Portlaoise's leisure centre's playground, Laois County Council has confirmed.
The maintenance work was confirmed to Cllr Thomasing Connell, Fine Gael, who raised the issue at a recent meeting in County Hall.
She tabled a motion calling on the Portlaoise Municipal District to carry out repairs, re-surfacing under the swings, slides and other equipment and carry out maintenance on the grass edges as required.
Anne Marie Maher, Sports and Leisure Officer, replied in writing about the Laois Leisure facility.
"The Sport & Leisure Section have scheduled annual maintenance and repairs for all playgrounds from February to July 2024. Subject to weather conditions Portlaoise Leisure Centre's maintenance and repair programme is scheduled for the week of 15th April 2024. The work will include surfacing and fencing works," said Ms Maher.
The issue was raised at the March meeting of the Council's Portlaoise Municipal District.
