Portlaoise Gardai seize more cars
BMW, Nissan, Ford, Toyota and Hyundai cars seized in recent days
Gardai in Laois have posted images of eight seized cars seized from around the county in recent days.
The bulk of the seized cars were detected as a result of the updated Garda Mobility App which can now give real-time information to Gardai on whether insurance policies are valid.
In the latest seizure, Gardai in Portlaoise said they detected two cars that were being driven without valid insurance thanks to the updated App.
“Laois Roads Policing Unit on patrol today in Portlaoise took another two vehicles off the road being driven without insurance with the updated Garda Mobility App,” Gardai stated.
“One vehicle when stopped had a false disc displayed on the windscreen and the other vehicles policy was cancelled last month," Gardai explained.
"Both vehicles seized and court proceedings commenced,” Gardai remarked.
