The participants will row the river Barrow and Achill Bay in a currach they built themselves

Pat Comerford of Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny, and Pat Sweeney of Achill Co. Mayo will launch their campaign, 'Pulling Together to Save Lives' in Durrow's Castle Arms Hotel on Friday 7th at 8pm.

The pair, along with the help of some friends, have built a currach with the intention of rowing the Barrow river and Achill Bay to raise funds for Teac Tom, a mental health support organisation.

Neither Pat Comerford or Pat Sweeney have ever built a Currach before. Nine months ago they decided to build a Currach based on the design of a Mayo Currach.placeholder image
