Search underway for Laois talent to perform at Electric Picnic

The Youth Work Ireland Laois competition is now open for applications
Are you a young Laois person and have you ever dreamed of performing on stage at Electric Picnic?
The search is now underway for talented young Laois performers who will get the chance to shine on the Hazel Wood Stage at this year's festival.
Youth Work Ireland Laois are delighted to announce the return of Electric Youth, their competition for young performers at Electric Picnic in Stradbally in 2025.
Whether it's music, comedy, dance, drama, poetry or another talent, now is the time to apply. The competition is open to 14 to 24 year olds and proof of age is required. Those interested in applying must be available for a meet and greet on Saturday, July 12 from 2pm to 6pm at the YWIL office.
The semi-finals will take place in the YWIL Office on Wednesday, July 30 from 6.30pm to 8pm for 14 to 17 year olds and on Thursday, July 31 from 6.30pm to 8pm for 17 to 24 year olds. The grand final will take place on Friday, August 15 from 7pm to 10pm at Dunamaise Theatre.
Now in its sixth year, Electric Youth is a collaboration between Youth Work Ireland Laois, Electric Picnic, LOETB and Creative Ireland. The event showcases the transformative power of music, arts, and youth work, highlighting its positive impact on the lives of its young participants.
Electric Youth provides a platform for young artists, musicians, singers, and poets to showcase their skills and passions. Many of these young people are self-taught and are performing to an audience for the first time.
Last year the winners that secured the four places to perform at the Picnic were The Porter Boys Social Club, Becca Mitchell and Oisin O’Reilly, Cillian Brennan and Forge.
For more information or to sign up email [email protected] for the application form. The closing date for applications is 1pm on Friday, July 10.
