Shine spotlight on sport in Laois Community and Voluntary Awards
Laois Sports groups are being urged to put the spotlight on sporting achievements that they believe should be recognised at the Laois Community and Voluntary Awards 2023.
Laois County Council says this award shines a spotlight on groups or schools that have shown exceptional dedication to physical health and wellbeing, while actively working towards increasing the participation of people, especially those with traditionally low participation rates, in the sport.
Laois Sports Partnership is delighted to sponsor the sports award category this year. They say the category focuses on groups or schools, that have focused on physical health, increasing the number of people participating in the sport, particularly those with a low participation rate.
Caroline Myers spoke on behalf of Laois Sports Partnership.
“Whilst we all know the benefits sport and physical activity give to us it also hugely important that we recognise and reward groups and individuals through their commitment to voluntary and community activities which have enriched and impacted the lives of their communities.
"The Laois Community & Voluntary Awards is a fantastic way to show this appreciation and recognition and I would encourage all groups, schools to nominate someone they think deserves recognition for their outstanding contribution," she said.
The Laois Community and Voluntary Awards encourage members of the public to nominate deserving individuals, groups, and schools who have greatly contributed to the advancement of sports in the county.
Not only will the winners of the Sports Award receive well-deserved recognition for their impactful efforts, but they will also inspire and motivate others to embrace the countless benefits of sports for individual and community wellbeing.
