Work has begun to prepare for the Mountmellick Town Centre First Plan

Residents of Mountmellick and the surrounding area are being urged to have their say on how to improve the town with the launch of a new survey.

This is part of the Mountmellick Town Centre First Plan (TCF) which is in pre-draft Public Consultation Stage. Laois County Council appointed SLR consulting to support the Mountmellick Town Team and the Council's Town Regeneration Office in preparing a Town Centre First Plan. The plan aims to establish a community-led vision to regenerate Mountmellick whilst tackling issues such as vacancy and dereliction and building on the assets and unique attributes of Mountmellick Town.

"By commencing the preparation of the Town Centre First Plan, we want to ensure that the TCF Plan meets the aspirations of the whole community, including local residents, businesses and community groups," the survey explains.

"We have prepared a short survey as a place for you to provide your comments and thoughts on Mountmellick Town. The results of this survey will help to inform the Draft Town Centre First Plan for Mountmellick. Once the Draft Plan is compiled there will be further opportunities to engage with the team in the coming months."

Mountmellick Tidy Towns is encouraging people to have their say before the deadline closes at 5pm on March 6.

"A few of us have got together along with Denise Rainey, Town Regeneration Officer, Laois County Council to try and improve our town, eg: Link road, public realm, buildings,  River walk, Flood relief etc," said the Tidy Towns.

"Now is your chance to put on paper what you'd like for our town. If you're previously from Mountmellick but live elsewhere and still have an interest in your town, yes you can fill in the survey we'd love to hear from you."

You can have your say by filling out the survey here.
