Three men appeared in court accused of assault causing harm in Portlaoise.
Lubomir De Meter (21) of 3 St Michaels Flats, Newpark, Portlaoise, Mirolslav Demeter (40) of 3 St Helenas Flats, Newpark, Portlaoise and Jozef Demeter (38) of Apartment 4 St Helenas Flats, Newpark, Portlaoise are each charged with one count of assault causing harm at Newpark, Portlaoise on June 1, 2023.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the three cases were all linked.
The court was told the three men were Slovakian and a fourth man translated the proceedings for the defendants.
Judge Susan Fay said they were serious charges and she asked that a court appointed Slovakian interpreter be present on the next date.
She adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on November 18 for mention and to consider jurisdiction.
