'Wall is going to fall' into Laois playground warns councillor

Cllr Ollie Clooney warns of 'very serious safety issue'
A Laois public playground has a "very serious safety issue" according to a local councillor.
A wall is on the verge of falling, and even being blown over in strong wind, at Durrow's Darú na nÓg playground claims Cllr Ollie Clooney.
"This is a very serious safety issue. The wall is going to fall where children play.
"We don't want to see anything happening. This is on the main Kilkenny road. It looks awful. It just has to be done.

He has tabled a motion to the March meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District.
He asks Laois County Council to carry out urgent repairs on the boundary wall of the playground in Durrow.
Cllr James Kelly seconded the motion.
"It is a very busy road. Children want to climb the wall. It should be done in the interests of safety," he said.
Cllr John King agrees.
"The locals do their utmost to look after it very well. We have to do this in the interest of safety of children," he said.
In reply, area engineer James Dowling said the site is owned by the community but the issue can be examined.
"Laois County Council look after maintenance of the play equipment on this site. The site on which the equipment was installed is provided by the community. Staff from the council will meet the councillor on site to review the issue raised and to examine potential solutions".
