WATCH: Laois teen helps save trapped deer

Laois teenager Niall Keogh, aged 13, has been hailed as a hero by his family after he helped rescue a trapped stag on Monday.

He was walking with his granny when they discovered the deer tangled in rubbish in a ditch. After unsuccessfully attempting to call for help, they tried to rescue the deer themselves. When that failed, the pair enlisted the help of neighbour William Flood and together the trio managed to free the stag who likely would have perished without assistance.
