Work is kicking into high gear on the multi-million euro redevelopment of Portlaoise GAA grounds in Laois.

"There’s plenty happening on site at the moment as the redevelopment really begins to take shape. From major groundworks to new all-weather pitch going in, it’s another important step forward for the club.
"A huge amount of work is going on behind the scenes to deliver top-class facilities for all our players, members and community. Exciting times ahead," posted the GAA club on social media on April 24.
Portlaoise GAA officially announced at the start of March 2026 that work had officially begun on the site with a 'world class' team assembled to deliver the project, which will also be a lasting commemoration of Eoin and Dylan Fitzpatrick.
Travis and Maryse Knight, (née Fitzpatrick), are supporting the project in commemoration of Maryse’s beloved brother and nephew, Eoin and Dylan, who tragically lost their lives in a road traffic accident in Turkey in July 2023.
Following the approval of detailed plans last year by Laois County Council, the first phase of construction includes the development of a full-size outdoor all-weather pitch and a new car park, both scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
A statement to the Leinster Express / Laois Live in March said the project would then progress to its next major stage, which will include the construction of a new clubhouse and indoor training facility, a viewing stand, comprehensive site landscaping, as well as pitch and floodlight enhancements.
