Wear and tear of Main Street in Laois village

Roadworks have been requested for part of the Main Street through a Laois village.

Fine Gael Cllr Barry Walsh has sought the works in his village of Ballyroan.

"Upper Main Street is showing signs of wear and tear. Hopefully we will get work as part of the roads programme," he said.

His motion to the October meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District asks Laois County Council to include the area in their 2024 programme of roadworks.

In reply, area engineer Wes Wilkinson said that the R425 on Main Street will be examined for consideration for resurfacing next year.
