Weather forces cancellation of two Laois family fun days

The weather forecast in Laois this weekend has forced the postponement of two separate family fun days.
It may be weather for ducks, but the duck race at the Rock GAA club near Mountmellick is one of the casualties.
The club's family fun day was to take place on Sunday, September 17, with traditional games, inter club juvenile games and rounding off with the exciting race of plastic ducks in the River Triogue, with prizes for winners.
Chairman James Murphy told the Leinster Express / Laois Live that it is hoped to reschedule the day within the next fortnight.
Also postponed is the Castletown Tidy Towns family fun day.
It was to be the first held in the prizewinning tidy village for four years, beside the beautiful Castletown weir.
"Given the poor weather forecasted for Sunday, we are very disappointed to have to postpone our Family Fun Day to a weekend in the near future. We will keep you posted," the organisers say.
Met Éireann says that Saturday in Leinster will be "cloudy this afternoon with dry intervals and some patchy light rain, drizzle and mist. Highest temperatures of 14 or 15 degrees, with moderate northeasterly breezes."
Saturday night will be mostly cloudy with rain spreading to most areas. Patches of mist also. Lowest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees with light to moderate northerly winds.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain through the day. Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees, with light to moderate east to northeast breezes.
