Laois County Council to paint road at housing estate entrance

A yellow box is to be painted at the entrance to a Portlaoise housing estate on the busy Dublin road to tackle traffic congestion.

Cllr Tommy Mulligan tabled a motion to the November meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District, asking for the work.

Cllr Mulligan described the difficulties of residents of Dún Masc in getting in and out of their estate.

“I was contacted by residents. There’s a significant volume of traffic on the Dublin road. Residents find it difficult turning, particularly between 8am and 9am,” he said.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Catherine Fitzgerald seconded.

“The only option is a yellow box to give people a chance living in the estate,” she said.

Laois County Council say the work will be done before Christmas.
