Yellow box urged for 'bumper to bumper' Abbeyleix in Laois
Sinn Féin councillor asking Laois County Council for help for residents
A yellow box is requested for Abbeyleix is Laois, where traffic is "bumper to bumper" and residents reportedly cannot get out of their own driveways.
Sinn Féin Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley made the request to Laois County Council for the Temperance Street junction to the Ballinakill road. In a motion to the September meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District, she also requests a review of road markings at the junction.
"Two residents are trying to get a box. Traffic is bumper to bumper and they can neither get in nor out," she said.
Cllr John Joe Fennelly seconded and said the congestion is due to school times at nearby Heywood Community School.
The council will examine the junction of the R430 and L-57312 "with a view to installing roadmarkings as appropriate".
