The former AFL star will be back wearing the green and white

Recently retired AFL star Zach Tuohy has admitted that he hasn't ruled out a return to play inter-county football with Laois while also indicating that he'll be returning to play for his beloved Portlaoise in 2025.

Tuohy has never played an inter-county championship game for his county with his only Senior appearance coming in the O'Byrne Cup for Laois.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1’s Saturday Sport on Saturday, October 26, Tuohy said that it was always his intention to return to play for Portlaoise whenever his AFL career ended and that if there's a route that he can explore to play for Laois, he will explore it.

"The ambition was always to go back and play, certainly for my club, and I do love the idea of trying to get a few inter-county games in, I never got to play for Laois in a senior championship game before I left," Tuohy told RTÉ Radio 1’s Saturday Sport.

"It seems unlikely now given the time constraints and how long I'd have to go back home to make that happen, but certainly playing for Portlaoise is on the cards next year.

"Can’t guarantee it because I’m not sure exactly what my work situation will be but I'm pretty confident I can make it happen.

"I actually tried to get home a couple of weeks ago but this whole retirement thing has not been as laid back as I was hoping. The six or eight weeks post-retirement has maybe been the busiest I've ever been but I owe it to them to pull on the jersey at least a few more times," Tuohy said.
