Abbott has raised over €16,000 for Cian’s Kennels through a year of fundraising events. Nominated as an Abbott ‘Charity of Choice’ for 2024, Cian’s Kennels works with children undergoing medical treatment, facilitating access to family pets or therapy animals, providing comfort and joy during challenging times. Through staff fundraising, 10 Abbott employees recently completed a ‘plane pull’ at the Baldonnel Aerodrome in Dublin. This event included a one-kilometre run, team puzzles, a jeep pull, and a plane pull. Cian’s Kennels attended the event at the invitation of its organiser Ronald McDonald House, Ireland.

The funds raised will help establish a Cian’s Kennels unit in the new National Children’s Hospital, allowing children receiving treatment to spend quality time with their family pets and therapy dogs. Abbott is committed to supporting charities and local communities across Ireland. Its ‘Charity of Choice’ programme is part of a wider volunteer initiative named, Croí an Óir which is Irish for ‘heart of gold.’ Created in 2007, the programme encourages Abbott employees to give back to their local community.

Conor Murphy, Longford Site Director, Abbott, said, “We are thrilled to support Cian’s Kennels this year. Our employees have gone above and beyond and seeing their commitment in action is incredible. The plane pull at Baldonnel Aerodrome was just one of many amazing volunteering activities. Cian’s Kennels does valuable work for children and their families during challenging times, and we look forward to continuing to support them.”
