ALERT | Several temporary road closures across Longford to facilitate improvement works
Delays are to be expected
Longford motorists are being advised of several temporary road closures owing to works over the coming weeks.
Temporary Road Closure: L5116 Ballymore to Bunlahy
To facilitate planned works under the Roads Programme 2024, the L-5116 Ballymore to Bunlahy road will be temporarily closed from 8am to 4pm until Friday, July 26.
Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the works. In the interest of road safety, please heed all signs.
Temp Road Closure R198 Battery Road, Longford town
To facilitate Pavement Reconstruction Works, the R198 Battery Road, Longford town from the junction with St Alban's to the junction at Lisbrack Road will be temporarily closed from 7pm-6am (Night time hours only) from Monday, July 29 to Wednesday, July 31.
A detour will be in operation via N4 from Red Cow Roundabout to the N63 Leo Casey Roundabout and via N63 to Longford Town
This road closure is required to facilitate Pavement Reconstruction Works on the R198. Pedestrian access will be accommodated.
In the interest of road safety, you are requested to follow diversions and heed all signs.
Temporary Road Closure Springlawn Housing Estate, Longford town
To facilitate planned works under the Roads Programme 2024, the L-7011 & L70103 Springlawn Housing Estate road will be temporarily closed from 8am to 5pm on Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26. Local access will be facilitated.
In the interest of road safety, please heed all signs.
Temporary Road Closure-L3008 St Joseph's Road, Longford town
To facilitate planned works under the Roads Programme 2024, the L-3008 St Josephs Road/Convent Road will be temporarily closed from 8am to 5pm on Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26. Local access will be facilitated.
Temporary Road Closure R-397-162 Stonepark
To facilitate planned works under the Roads Programme 2024, the R-397-162 Stonepark road will be temporarily closed from 8am to 5pm on Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26. Local access will be facilitated.
Temporary Road Closure: L-5046 Corragarrow
To facilitate planned works under the Roads Programme 2024, the L-5046 Corragarrow road will be temporarily closed from 8am to 5pm on Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26. Local access will be facilitated.
Roadworks: N4 Lamagh Rail Bridge to Newtownforbes
Longford county council wishes to advise roadworks are to be carried out on the N4 from Lamagh Rail Bridge to Newtownforbes, Longford on Tuesday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 24 from 9am to 5pm.
These roadworks are to facilitate Pavement Survey Works. Traffic management system (Stop and Go) will be in place for the duration of the works. Delays can be expected.
Roadworks at Currygranny/Ballagh Bridge
Longford county council wishes to advise roadworks are to be carried out at the L-1008 Bridge at Currygranny/Ballagh Bridge from Monday, July 22 to Friday, August 16 (Mon-Fri) between the hours of 8am and 6pm. These roadworks are to facilitate upgrading works on a masonry arch bridge.
Traffic management system (Temporary Traffic Lights) will be in place for the duration of the works. Delays can be expected.
Traffic Lights on N55 between Carrickboy and Ballymahon
Traffic Lights are in operation on the N55 at Fowlards Bridge (between Carrickboy & Ballymahon) until further notice.
As a result of pavement/embankment structural defects, the N55 at Cloonard in the vicinity of Fowlard’s Bridge (Royal Canal Bridge), shall be reduced to one lane, controlled by temporary traffic signals.
This single lane traffic management system will be in place until the permanent repair of the pavement is implemented.
Longford County Council advise motorists that delays are to be expected and apologise for the unavoidable disruption caused by these necessary traffic management measures.
