Dovida Midlands invites communities to join annual IMNDA 5K fundraiser

Dovida Midlands is encouraging members of the local community to come together and support the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) by taking part in its annual "Walk While You Can" 5K fundraiser this November.

The event will take place at Dovida Lakepoint Park (St. Loman's, Mullingar GAA) on Saturday, November 7 at 11am, with all funds raised going directly to the IMNDA to support people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and their families throughout Ireland.

Members of the public are invited to take part in the walk, make a donation, or simply come along on the day to support participants and enjoy refreshments.

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects hundreds of people across Ireland. The IMNDA provides a range of vital supports and services to people living with MND, their families and caregivers, helping them navigate the significant challenges associated with the condition.

For Dovida, the event forms part of a longstanding partnership with the IMNDA. Earlier this year, Dovida was honoured to receive an Appreciation Award from the IMNDA in recognition of its continued support of the organisation and its mission to support people living with MND, their families and caregivers.

Speaking ahead of the event, Lorraine McLaughlin, General Manager of Dovida Midlands, said: "The IMNDA is a fantastic organisation that makes a real difference in the lives of people living with MND and their families across Ireland. We are proud to support its work and to play our part in raising both awareness and vital funds through initiatives like Walk While You Can”.

"At Dovida, we see first-hand the importance of supporting people to live safely and comfortably in their own homes and communities for as long as possible. Our partnership with the IMNDA has helped us strengthen our understanding of MND and enhance the training and support we provide to our Caregivers”.

"We would encourage anyone who can to come along and support the event. Whether you take part in the walk, make a donation or simply join us for a cup of tea and a chat afterwards, every contribution will help support the invaluable work of the IMNDA."

Organisers are hoping for another strong turnout this year and are encouraging families, community groups, local businesses and supporters from across the Midlands to get involved.
