Calls to bring forward Longford Christmas lights event
Cllr Seamus Butler will raise the issue at next weeks meeting of the Longford Municipal District.
A proposal to bring forward the switching on of Longford town’s Christmas lights will be discussed at next week’s meeting of the Longford Municipal District.
The motion, which was submitted by Councillor Seamus Butler, calls on Longford County Council to schedule the annual event for Friday, November 13.
Cllr Butler has also called for all road and footpath works in the town centre to be suspended from the beginning of December until the New Year, with a view to minimising disruption for shoppers and businesses during the busy Christmas period.
The proposal would however allow for emergency works to be carried out during that period.
