Development of nine three-bedroom lodges, four two-bed lodges

Longford County Council's planning office have approved plans by local entrepreneurs about the development of a tourism centre at Foygh, Kenagh, Longford.

Alan and John Rowan, the brothers behind Tuff Homes and Tuff Pods the timber frame passive Scandinavian design houses, made a planning application last February 12 for the tourism development.

The plans for the holiday lodge site include nine three-bedroom lodges, four two-bed lodges, a managers office and laundry.

The development will include plant room and laundry, site entrance, internal road and footpaths, lighting, play area, boundary fence, wastewater treatment system, percolation area and all ancillary site works.

There were two submissions on the application, one by Irish Water, the second by environmental activist Peter Sweetman.

Longford County Council planners approved the application subject to 17 conditions.
