With less than two weeks to go, the excitement is building for the inaugural Camlin Keys Piano Festival in Longford Town, and the deadline for entry, Friday, June 9, is looming.

The schedule for the Saturday, June 17 festival opens with workshops:

Performance & Exam Anxiety:  Join Tamara Niekludow as she offers advice, techniques and insight into the pressures of performance and exam situations.

Music with Dee Dee:  An hour of early years music fun and laughter with Dee-Dee Hickey.

STEM Pianotime: What can we make a piano with?

Piano Ensembles:  Workshops throughout the day with multi-instrumentalist Andrew Yau.

Never too old:  If you are a beginner or returning to the piano, chat with Joanna about playing the piano at any age.

Basic Improvisation:  Join Oleg Yanchuck as he guides you through arranging music to play with others.

Please note – all workshops must be booked and paid for in advance to ensure space book your spot as early as possible through Facebook or our website.

The Competition/Classes are running all day in St John’s NS. Our outlook is very much that the festival be an opportunity to perform and show off your pieces, rather than be a competitive activity. The focus is very much on playing the pieces for each other. We have age group classes and grade classes so every pianist should be able to enter something!

Age group classes are:  under 7; under 10; under 13; under 16; under 20. (Age on or after 30/06/23)

Grade classes are:  Elem/Prel/Prim; Grade 1; Grade 2; Grade 3; Grade 4; Grade 5; Grade 6; Grade 7; Grade 8; Advanced. (Open to all ages)

There are guideline timings and participants are expected to have two pieces, they do not need to be memorized.  Deadline for entry is Friday, June 9, entries will not be taken on the day, entry form link on our website, www.camlinkeys.ie.

Evening Grand Concert – for the festival we are installing a grand piano in St John’s Church.  We would like to give the pianists of Longford the opportunity to play the piano and are inviting people to join the line-up.

We will be having winners of the piano classes and the Community Games winning Ballad Group will also be joining us.  The evening will also include performances by the various ensembles who have participated in the workshops.  Tickets available on Eventbrite.
