Gardaí investigate 'vicious' assault on young Longford woman who was hospitalised
Officers rushed to the residential area after the alarm was raised at 7am on Saturday
A woman, in her 20s, was hospitalised after being assaulted in a Longford town property on Saturday.
It is understood Gardaí were called to the residential area after they received a report in relation to a 'vicious' assault on the victim at 7am.
An ambulance brought the woman, who had suffered non-life threatening injuries, to Mullingar General Hospital.
The injured woman responded well to her treatment and she was released from hospital on Sunday night.
A Garda spokesman said, "Gardaí received a report of an assault on a woman at a residential property in Longford at approximately 7am on Saturday, June 7.
"The woman, aged in her 20s, was transported to Mullingar General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
"Investigation are ongoing."
