Feelings of sadness and genuine regret were felt in Granard and the surrounding area as the news became known that Micheál Clarke of 1 Denniston Court had passed to his eternal reward, suddenly, on Sunday, August 27, following a brief illness during the night.

Micheál was a native of The Bog Road, Leitrim Coolarty and had lived in Castlenugent Lisryan for some years before moving to Granard.

Son of the late Michael and Kathleen Clarke he was also predeceased by his brother James and more recently by his sister Catherine Clarke Reilly and also by his partner Kitty.

Micheál was a past pupil of St Patrick's National school, Muckerstaff and he loved meeting neighbours and friends from the Coolarty area and was always ready for a joke and a good chat.

Mickey, as he was known to family and friends, was a great example of how to deal with problems as he fought with and overcome issues himself and he was always willing to help and encourage others in a similar situation and he will be sorely missed by many.

Micheál's remains reposed in Our lady's Manor Church in Edgeworthstown on Wednesday evening, August 30 and his funeral Mass was celebrated in St Mary's church in Granard on Thursday morning, August 31 and was attended by family neighbours and friends and he was laid to rest in the family plot in Granarkille cemetery.

We extend sincere sympathy to his family Michael, Robert and Lorraine and their mother Margaret and to his brothers Pauric  Peter and Anthony, sister in law Vera, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends at this sad time.

May he rest in peace.
