Longford author makes the shortlist for prestigious award
Eileen Moynihan has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Women Changing the World Awards
Eileen Moynihan of Childhood Books has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Women Changing the World Awards.
The Women Changing the World Awards presented by Oprah Winfrey’s all-time favourite guest, Dr Tererai Trent, celebrate and recognize women achieving outstanding success in areas such as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health and innovation.
The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who are leading the way in making the world a better place for us all and inspire other women to answer the call to take action.
Eileen commented, “I'm a retired teacher who taught children with special needs. I am a writer of children's books, poetry and short stories.
I am very involved locally and internationally with creative people who want to make a better world especially for children.
"I recently co-authored a poetry book with Anila Bukhari called, 'Dream of a Girl ' to encourage young girls to dream big and to discourage child marriage; to encourage letting children/girls be children.
"Locally, I have been an active member of Longford Writers Group. I was chairperson and I am now the treasurer. I am also an active voluntary member of SCBWI in the Irish Midlands, organizing social meetings. I am also an active member of Indie Authors Ireland.
"My work as I see it is to help others in the local community and internationally, especially women and children. I want to encourage unity through creativity.
"I always loved to encourage children to use their imagination when I was teaching and I think it is important that we all look for the imagination of our inner child.
"I don't think what I do is unique but that it is important to bring out the best in ourselves and others.”
The winners of the 2025 Women Changing the World Awards will be announced at the Women Changing the World Global Summit and Awards at Park Hyatt, River Thames, London, United Kingdom on April 3, 2025.
