Longford boxing star John Nevin wins back-to-back All-Ireland Youth titles

15-year-old John Nevin, son of former Longford Slashers senior football championship medal winner Martin ‘Butch’ Nevin, produced a tremendous performance to win back-to-back All-Ireland Youth Boxing titles at the National Stadium in Dublin this Saturday.

Competing in the Boy 4 52 kg division, St Mel’s College student John won his title bout on a unanimous decision against a Belfast Irish champion from last year.

It is a fantastic achievement by young Nevin who would like to thank his coaches at the Olympic Boxing Club in Galway for his success and thanks also to St Mel’s College Principal Malachy Flanagan for his support.
