Longford District Court: Fine for public order offences

The failure to make a charity donation to avoid a conviction resulted in a fine of €250 being imposed at Longford District Court.

Jozef Milenky (39) of Unit 4, Weavers Hall, Longford was before the court charged with engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour and public intoxication stemming from an incident on September 26, 2022 at Great Water Street, Longford.

At a previous sitting Judge Bernadette Owens indicated that if Mr Milenky made a charity donation he could avoid a conviction, however the defendant failed to keep his court appointment and there was no evidence that the charity donation was made.

Judge Owens concluded the matter by imposing a fine of €250 for the charge of engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour, with the public intoxication charge taken into consideration.
