A man is due to reappear in court to face a number or charges, including burglary, criminal damage and theft.

John Courtney, 3 Canal Court, Park Road, Longford, appeared before Longford District Court last Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty to burglary at a restaurant in Longford town on October 13, 2023.

He entered a guilty plea to a separate burglary in a separate Longford town restaurant on March 22, 2023. He also pleaded guilty to a criminal damage charge on the same day.

Previous guilty pleas were entered to charges of section 4 theft on June 12, 2023, and criminal damage on March 25, 2023.

Defence solicitor, Mr Frank Gearty, on behalf of the accused, told the court that his client “believes if he could come to court in three weeks, he can have €400 in partial compensation”.

Judge Bernadette Owens proceeded to remand Mr Courtney on continuing bail to October 15, 2024.
