A picture of the culprits - reported to have been taken after they were disturbed during a break-in on Monday - is now circulating

Longford Gardaí are investigating reports of numerous house break-ins that occurred on the morning of Monday, May 11, in the south Longford area.

The culprits responsible for the spate of break-ins, which took place between the hours of 10am-2pm, are believed to have been travelling in a stolen black Audi A3.

One woman posted online that her daughter’s house in Ballymahon had been “ransacked” on Monday morning, with thieves taking jewellery and money.

The same gang is also suspected of having carried out a number of burglaries in Mullingar just hours prior to the Longford incidents.

A picture of two masked men entering a black 08 Audi A3 with a Monaghan reg is currently being circulated online along with details of three areas where multiple burglaries occurred - Kenagh, Rosemount, and Ballinea - and advice that people “keep eye out for 08 black Audi A3.”

The picture is reported to have been taken on Monday after the burglars were disturbed during a break-in at a house in Westmeath.

The masked individuals in the picture can be seen wearing dark jackets, hats, and leather gloves. The driver is also unidentifiable but can be seen wearing leather gloves.

Longford Gardaí investigating the incidents have asked for anyone with information, dash cam footage or home CCTV footage, to contact Longford Garda Station on 043 3350570 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
