The Roscommon/Longford Garda division, in association with Longford and Roscommon County Councils, has announced the launch of the 8th Annual Garda Youth Awards.

The awards recognise and celebrate outstanding young people aged between the ages of 13 and 21 who have made a positive contribution to their communities across the two counties.

The nomination process is now open, with An Garda Síochána inviting members of the public to put forward individuals or groups who have demonstrated a commitment to making a difference over the past year.

Nominations can be made across four categories:

  • Individual Award: for a young person making a positive contribution to their community
  • Group Award: for two or more young people working together to benefit their community
  • Special Achievement Award: for those who have overcome significant challenges and whose determination deserves recognition
  • Community Safety Award: for initiatives or innovations that have improved safety or prevented crime in their community

Nomination forms will be distributed to schools, youth groups and voluntary organisations across Longford and Roscommon in the coming weeks.

Forms can also be requested via email at [email protected], or downloaded from the Garda website and the Roscommon and Longford local authority websites.
