Longford #LE 2024: Early Longford MD figures

Tallies in for seven boxes
There is many a slip between cup and lip, however tally indications for the first seven boxes opened in the Longford MD give a good indication of what the mood on the ground is for the outcome of Local Election 2024.
Battery Road, St Michael's NS and St Joseph's NS are all boxes that favour town candidates, however the picture emerging shows one that pundits suggest will be representative of the final numbers.
Fianna Fáil's Seamus Butler leads the field after the seven boxes have been totted, his 363 votes logged so far represents 16.6% of the votes, next is Peggy Nolan (FG) who has 317 (14.5%) of the vote and Martin Monaghan's 246 gives him an 11.3% share of the tallied votes. The only other candidate to break the 200 mark so far is sitting FF councillor Uruemu Adejinmi with 214.
Making predictions on the results of seven boxes is a hazardous pastime, only 2,186 votes of the 13,475 electorate have been accounted for.
That said the strong show of the early leaders is a decent indication of the way the next Municipal District will shape up once counting gets underway in Edgeworthstown.
