A defendant who was found to be in possession of €50 worth of cocaine when he was stopped by Gardaí was given the opportunity to avoid a criminal conviction.

Jonathan Logan (42) of 32 Castlepark, Newtownforbes, Longford faced a charge of possession of cocaine on September 1, 2023 at Mullagh, the N5 bypass, Longford.

Sergeant Enda Daly said the defendant fully cooperated with the officers and has not come to Garda attention since. Judge Cronin accepted jurisdiction over the matter.

Noting the defendant had entered an early plea to the matter Judge Cronin said if Mr Logan made a €350 donation to the court poor box she would strike out the matter.
