Longford man Edward Denniston is to launch his fourth collection of poems as part of events taking place during Waterford Writers’ Weekend, which falls at the latter end of the annual Imagine Arts Festival.

The book launch is on Sunday, October 29 at 2pm in Waterford’s Gallery of Art. The collection is called VITAL.

Edward, a retired English and Drama teacher, has been living in Waterford since 1980, the city to which his North Longford ancestor, William Denniston, travelled to preach the dissenting religion in the early 18th century.

Edward has published three collections of poems and a book of drama scripts. He has also edited an anthology: Teachers Who Write. He has written text for two Irish composers and is currently collaborating with composer Grainne Mulvey on work entitled, Texts For A Civil War.

Edward is a frequent visitor to Longford town and county and is always keen to give readings of his poem in his home town, which he has done on a number of occasions.
