Longford man to stand trial over alleged pub assault
A defendant facing an assault charge will have his case heard in Longford Circuit Court.
John Keenan (30) of 37 Palace Crescent, Longford faces a charge that on October 22, 2022 at Peter Clarke's Pub, Dublin St, Longford he did assault Patrick Lowrey.
Garda Eamon Fitzpatrick gave evidence of serving the Book of Evidence on the defendant on the morning of the court sitting.
Sergeant Conor McShane said the DPP was seeking to have the matter returned for trial at the next sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court. The defendant was remanded on his own bond of €250.
Mr Keenan was granted legal aid in the name of his solicitor Bríd Mimnagh and one counsel.
Judge Owens issued an alibi warning, telling Mr Keenan that if he wished to provide an alibi he must inform the prosecution within 14 days.
