Defendant pleaded guilty to being in possession of drugs for sale or supply following a Garda search operation in Longford
A defendant who pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis for sale or supply will return before Longford Circuit Court in May.
Trevor Kelly (41) of 16 Ardeevan, Longford initially came before Judge Bernadette Owens in the District Court last Tuesday.
Sergeant Enda Daly said the DPP consented to send the matter forward to be heard in Longford Circuit Criminal Court.
Solicitor Bríd Mimnagh made a legal aid application for one counsel. Judge Owens issued the defendant with an alibi warning and sent the matter forward to the Circuit Court on the defendant's own bond of €300.

When the matter came before Judge Kenneth Connolly in the Circuit Court later that day it was stated that Mr Kelly pleaded guilty to being in possession of drugs for sale or supply following a Garda search operation in Longford one and a half years ago.
He was arraigned at last week's sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court and admitted having cannabis for sale or supply at his home address on May 23, 2023.
The defendant was also arraigned and pleaded guilty to a charge of being in possession of cannabis on the same date and at the same location.
Counsel for the defendant, Kieran Collins BL, told Judge Kenneth Connolly Mr Kelly has “no previous convictions and a full employment history”.
Mr Kelly was remanded on bail for his sentencing hearing on May 7, 2025.
