Longford school kid captures 'The true meaning of Christmas'

Let me tell you a story from a long time ago
A young man and woman with a long way to go.
The journey was difficult, the road was so bad,
The help of their donkey was all that they had.
The birth of their baby they knew was close,
Finding somewhere to stay was what they needed most.
In Bethlehem they searched from Inn to Inn,
Each time to be told there was no room within.
Fed up and tired and desperate for rest,
They didn’t know what to do for the best.
Until one Innkeeper said,
“Well, I do have a stable, but there’s no furniture inside, no bed, chair or table”.
They were both so delighted to have somewhere to stay,
As they huddled together in the warmth of the hay.
Joseph the carpenter and Mary his wife,
Ready and happy to start their new life.
So, in that little stable, under a bright starry night,
Our baby Jesus was born and the Angels took flight.
They told the shepherds the great news from afar,
Baby Jesus has been born, “You’ll find him under the star”.
So they followed that star without fear of danger,
And they found baby Jesus asleep in the manger.
The three wise men travelled from afar,
They too were guided by that bright star.
They came with gifts from lands far away,
To give to the baby on his first Christmas day.
So when Christmas comes with all the celebrations,
Putting up our trees and all our decorations.
Bursting with excitement and having such fun,
We can all still remember how it begun.
In a humble stable in Bethlehem, with only stars giving light,
Our King was born on this most Holy night.
Bringing such joy to the world and love and laughter,
Good will to all and Peace ever after.
