Longford TD welcomes increase in income thresholds for social housing supports

Longford / Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty has welcomed confirmation that the income thresholds for social housing supports are to change upwards from January 2023.

Earlier this year the band was changed for Co Westmeath and January will see the bands increase for counties Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon also.

Deputy Flaherty said, “The existing bands are simply too challenging and by moving the bands up €5,000, it will enable many families and individuals on minimal income to qualify for social  housing supports.”

He said that the issue has been a recurring one for the region over the last number of years and he welcomes the change from January.
