Margaret Alacoque Maguire (Ireland First) has been eliminated following the 6th Count in Longford Westmeath General Election 2024. She is the seventh candidate to be eliminated.

Her 884 votes will be distributed during Count 7.

The 658 votes of Fine Gael’s Tanya Cannon were distributed during Count 6 and the biggest winner was her party colleague Micheál Carrigy who picked up 346 more votes.

There are now 12 candidates left in the contest to fill four seats and the leading five contenders are;

Robert Troy, Fianna Fáil 8,524

Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, Independent 8,358

Micheál Carrigy, Fine Gael 7,597

Sorca Clarke, Sinn Féin 7,083

Joe Flaherty, Fianna Fáil 5,443

Troy is still 1,791 votes shy of the 10,315 quota so it may be quite some time before a second candidate is declared officially elected.

Paul Hogan (Independent Ireland) 3,051, Barry Campion (Sinn Féin) 2,374 and Gerry Warnock (Independent) 2,294 are the next three candidates in the poll. placeholder image
