Longford's ailing haulage sector set for €18m boost

Hard pressed hauliers look set to be in line for some much needed economic respite in the new year, courtesy of a multi-million euro government support package.
Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan TD and Minister of State with special responsibility for road transport and logistics, Hildegarde Naughton T.D are to roll out an €18m support scheme in early 2023 to support licensed hauliers as they grapple with the cost of living crisis.
The scheme will cover eligible heavy goods vehicle authorised on the licence of a current road haulage operator as of 15 December 2022, subject to the operator satisfying the terms and conditions of the scheme at the time of application.
“We expect that a new support scheme for the licenced haulage sector will be delivered in early 2023,” said Minister Ryan.
