Man tried to break into Edgeworthstown business twice inside space of a month, court hears

A man charged with a number of attempted robberies in Edgeworthstown is due to reappear before Longford District Court on April 26, when DPP directions are expected to be available.
Martyna Danbrauskas of 31 Parc na hAbhainn, Edgeworthstown, was charged with two counts of knife possession and two attempts to commit robbery on January 12, 2022, and February 7, 2022, respectively.
The court heard last week that the suspect, who was arrested following an attempted robbery at an Edgeworthstown business can be identified on CCTV and that certain admissions were made during interview.
Judge Bernadette Owens was told that the accused “attempted to rob the same location twice in four weeks” and that gardaí fear he’ll do the same again to fund his drug habit.
“He has admitted he’s used heroin and is on methadone,” said Sgt Enda Daley, court presenter.
Solicitor for the defence Frank Gearty said that his client had taken Xanax in excess on the day in question.
“He came in brandishing a weapon and made some noise,” he said.
Judge Owens granted bail to Mr Danbrauskas, subject to a number of conditions including sign-ons at Longford Garda Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
He is also to stay drug and alcohol free and abide by a curfew. She also ordered him to surrender his passport, stay away from the premises he attempted to rob, and provide a phone number to gardaí.
Mr Danbrauskas is due to reappear before Longford District Court on April 26 for directions.
