North Longford man goes on trial over Granard pub row

A north Longford man has gone on trial accused of violent disorder, endangerment and brandishing a pick handle during the course of a row inside a pub over four years ago.
Edward 'Blondie' Stokes (32), Ferriskill, Granard, Co Longford has pleaded not guilty to all three charges as well as committing affray during an incident at Kane's Bar, Main Street, Granard, Co Longford on October 7, 2018.
The trial, before Judge Kenneth Connolly, heard opening evidence from cartographer Liam Farrell who told of how he had been commissioned by gardaí to prepare a map of the north Longford town's main street in the aftermath of the incident.
Garda Ray Greenan, from Longford garda station's crime scene examination unit, gave evidence of taking a series of photos from the alleged scene on the day of the incident.
They included images of an overturned table, seat and two stools which had been found lying on their side.
The case is to resume on Tuesday next before a jury of six women and five men after one juror was discharged owing to personal reasons.
